Tsunami Thailand 2004 in Phi Phi Island

Do you still remember that i've been to Thailand last month? That place, Phi Phi Island, was a victim of the Tsunami in year 2004. Look at the clip below. Its taken from Youtube, and that place was actually the beach where we first landed on Phi Phi Island.

The attap house, GONE. Sampan and boat, GONE. Everything alone the beach, GONE.

Luckily i was there 5 years later, and its been renovated. Redesigned and renew. Lovely place, gosh, i miss my holiday trip in Thailand.

Earth Hour

Earth Hour

Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), to asks households and businesses to turn off the non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

It began in Sydney in 2007, and 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. A year later, this event managed to extend to a larger scale involving a global sustainability movement, with an account of 50 million people participating switching off their lights. This year, 2009, the goal is to have 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Its the world's first global election.

VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

Earth Hour will next take place on Saturday, March 28 2009 at 8:30 pm, local time. VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your light for an hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

I'll be participating. No desktop or laptop; that means i cant online. No lights; i'll meraba-raba dalam kegelapan, LOL. No fan; hmm... natural sauna in my room. No television; lets hope there's isnt any live football in this very hour. And "NO" to whatever it is that dealt with electronic devices.

VOTE EARTH for the sake of our future!

Hmm, as far as i know, on 28th March, several peoples going to be celebrating his/her birthday. My brother who's sitting for his PMR this year. Little Amy and my colleague Phoenie. And i wonder where will i be then? *whistling*

Together, we can make this world a better place... VOTE EARTH!

When Snowfall Turns To Disaster

Refering to my dear's blog, United Kingdom is currently under massive snowfall. As reported from the news, "The heaviest snowfall in 18 years brought the nation to a standstill, crippling businesses, transport networks, hospitals and schools - and further hammering the recession-hit economy."

6.4 million workers were forced to stay at home by the insane weather. The roads, streets and tube were closed. Even the world's busiest terminal, Heathrow, was forced to close both its runways for several hours. The problems could get worse with more snow expected overnight and today, and the prospect of temperatures plummeting to -6C making the conditions even more icily treacherous.

dude... where's my car?

lovely plain white country...

For further reading, please go to this news. If we would ever wonder why this is happening, probably one of the many reasons would lead back to us. Global warming. We are the cause, and here is just a part of the consequences.

Despite the disaster that's hitting Britian, suddenly the Emirates Stadium looks much more beautiful when it snow...

the white snow blanketing Ashburton Grove

Emirates Stadium in white

Suddenly im reminded by this Christmas tune...
Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Full Moon

Saw this in outside my room at 6:45AM. So beautiful. Somehow i always find full moon to be rather fascinating; the beauty of nature are endlessly mesmerizing. Beauty in the eyes, bringing a sense of peacefulness in my mind.

It would be lovely if one day i get to see Aurora Borealis. Lights across the sky.

Inconvenience Truth

This is where i live, Penang. Also known as Pearl of Orient. Lovely...

Penang, with sea water level 0m

Wonderful place isnt it? But for how wonderful and fascinating it is, it wont last long. Look at the picture below where the sea water level increases by 10m.

Penang, sea water level +10m

That is what's going to happen in the next 10 years!!!

Okay, im just kidding. However ladies and gentlemen, this is inevitable.

GLOBAL WARMING!!!

Lets study the map carefully shall we? As the ice melts in both North and South poll, it will cause the sea water level to increase constantly... Or rather, exponentially. The whole Georgetown and Bayan Lepas are in serious problems. As for Seberang Prai, its worst. So there goes my AutoCity... =(

It may not be directly damaging our home and living, but when that happens, the land area shrinks, land price increases, worse when the affected or flooded area are like Penang, the industrial area are GONE!!!

Fortunately, i wont be much of a serious victim considering where im staying. BUT it doesnt last long either. Its getting hotter outside. Even when the moment im typing this, im sweating as well.

We should start acting now. Putting words into actions. Else, our world doesnt differ much from what being shown in the picture above in years to come...

Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me...

The Morning After Rain

How do you define a beautiful day?

This is how my morning looks like... The golden sun emerges behind the tall buildings. Even though it rains the night before, the clouds would make way for the beautiful dawn to begin its day.

A new journey; a new chapter.

And that's me... stuck in the traffic jam. =x

"No matter how much is the pain,
There would be sunshine after rain.
"

Sounds familiar? Hahaa, i used to comment those words of encouragement. And there you have it, far better than sunshine...

RAINBOW!!!

All of the photos in this entry were taken on my way to office from my baby W810i. Come to think about it, i guess i need to install Photoshop. Stamping trademark on my displayed photos. Hmm... who's kind enough to lend me the installer?

How do you define a beautiful day? Its beautiful when you think its beautiful.

A Beauty

Waking up in the early morning where the skies still dark. Before the sun emerges behind those tall buildings; before the busy streets fill with much mediums. My alarm signals the beginning of another day.

It feels good. GREAT i would say... Got up just to find the moonlight is crawling slowly by my bedside. And the best part of all, i could just lie down and enjoy gazing at the full moon!!!

How bright it is; how round it is; how our universe never fails to mesmerize us. But for the wonder it is, i have to start my day. Oh yea, i forgot to mention...

its FRIDAY!!!

Ladies and gentleman, i present to you, the full moon...

A beauty...

Pardon my W810i for its flaws on night mode. It was taken at E-Gate later on that evening. Soothing ambiance, panoramic view and the beauty of the moon just propels the romantic indulgence of the atmosphere. Oh my GOD, im falling in love again. LOL.

Hmm, i wonder why i love full moon so much...

Could you see it? How nice it is if i could just lay down on the grass with the one that i love, the bright moonlight keeping us entertain, and we could forget the world.

...and the pieces of black and white keys start to move in a rhythmical manner. Playing a familiar tune.
