6-1. We Scored A Goal

Second match was against Power FC. Heading to the field, there are only several conditions that we got to fulfill as a team. That is;

1. DO NOT concede any goal in the first 15 seconds.
2. Although many pundits believe we're going to lose, but still we have to keep the score line to the minimum. DO NOT let the opponent score more than 5 goals.
3. AT LEAST, at least, try to get a goal.

The match kicked off with us without any substitute player on the pitch. With just couple of seconds after the first whistle was blew, there was a massive clash on the field. Our midfielder, AhYong, and the opponent knock on each other's head!

The match was immediately put on a halt as soon as the referee saw AhYong's head bleeding. He was then sent to the nearby clinic for treatment. Thinking that we probably got it worst, but hell no, the opponent player had his tooth broken! His gums were bleeding as well.

One. Two. Three. Slowly and gradually, we started to concede goals again. One after another. Towards the end of the match, Gary made a good run pass the defender and slot the ball perfectly to AhChua. And with the finest touch, we scored.

GOAL!!!

We scored a goal. The moment we scored, all the other team players cheer for us! They were supporting us from behind even they will be our opponent next week. They cheer for us. Hailing our team, HUA HEE HUA HEE!!!. It was the sweetest moment so far.

In the end, we managed to grab a consolation goal, but we conceded 6. Yup, the final score is 6-1. LOL. But all of us are very happy. Though we lost, but we scored. Hahaa. A sign of improvement... ^^

A Moment Of Disgrace

The score line was 5-0. A big number of 5 for Tak Fit FC, and i guess you would have known how much it is for our team. Sigh.

It only took them 15 seconds to open the account. Before we could recover and salvage an equalizer, they blasted another low drive into the bottom corner of our net and made it two. We were clearly outcast and could only pray for the half time to appear anytime sooner. Monopolizing every part of the game, terrorizing the midfields, walking through our defenses. It was a total disgrace when it ended 5-0. Men versus kids. Thats how it is.

Here in my blog, i would like to take this opportunity to say, "Im Sorry". Its a sense of guilt im having. I understood that many came to support us, despite their very own hectic schedule and distances they need to travel. With the match ended in a disappointment, they could still cheering and giving us words of encouragement. They have been great. Thanks for supporting us. I appreciate it very much.

banyak gaya, tapi bola tak nampak

Life isnt always a bed of roses, so do success doesnt come rolling. Perhaps at this phase of life, GOD would want us to experience something unusual, something different. By allowing us to go through humiliation and embarrassment, we could then see our faults and flaws. Telling us how we can improve; learn from our mistakes; buckle up; prepare for the next game.

Its only when you fall, you could grow up. Be tough and be strong. It makes you wiser; a better man.

Preview Of Hua Hee FC First Match

Here i am again, talking about soccer. I participate in the inter department football tournament. It will be held every Saturday until 13th June '09.

Unlike the common matches where there's going to be starting 11, the tournament only allow us to field 8 aside, including the goalkeeper. And another 7 as substitute players. Its a league match, with only 6 team registered themselves. How little in a league. 3 points for the winning side, 1 point for draw and may GOD have mercy for those who lost against their opponent. 15 minutes in each half. Unlimited substitution can be made.

Usually i fancy more of attacking role. Not that im good in dribbling or playing wide, but because i enjoy charging up front and slip between the defenders. However, its been ages since i last actually played, so i place myself with more with defensive duties. Im playing at wing back, flexible at both left and right. Wasnt bad isnt it? Portraying as one of my favourite player, Gael Clichy.

We had a briefing earlier today on the tactics and strategies that we should deployed. It looks positive to me. The potential of getting the 3 points is there. At the end of today, its down to us. We need to play as a team. Its doesnt matter with winning or losing, as long as we try our best and challenge the limit. Play with believe and confidence. Take every chance that comes along the way. Its a big day for everyone of us.

Like the motto,
Kalah Tak Apa, Gaya Mest Ada!
Nono, thats not our motto. We havent think of any...

Its our first tournament in the league, first match. And its always important to start the game in a constructive manner by obtaining all the maximum points. It sets the momentum and power that could hopefully drive us towards the end, and hit it with a bang. Oh yea, did i mention whats our team's name? Its Hua Hee FC. Yea, dont sweat with me. Our captain is the one who decides the name. I guess he was trying to imply the images to us that; we are here to have a good game of football.

Date: 23 May 2009 @ 4:50PM
Subject: Hua Hee FC vs Tak Fit FC
Location: Sekolah Rendah Bukit Gelugor

That's the details for tomorrow's match. Do feel free to drop me comments or words of encouragement. Wish me luck, i need plenty of them... bucketful. I shall post another entry after the match on the result. Till then, take care. Have a pleasant day.

Midnight Blue

Stylish isnt it? Its the new away jersey for 2009/10. Its called, Midnight Blue. Though it looks a little weird with blue, but still, it looks good. ^^

Captian Fabregas in Midnight Blue

the Russian playmaker, Andrey Arshavin

Eduardo celebrating his superb goal with fellow teammates

the young Theo Walcott

Those images were taken from Arsenal FC website.

With them looking rather confident and amazing in those jerseys, how i hope and pray that Arsenal could lift at least a trophy next season. Decorate their cabinets with a silverware.

I got this weird feeling in my tummy. It feels like i've seen these photos somewhere. Not that i dreamt of these images before, but the figures and silhouette are indeed very familiar. Its like the photos taken from previous winning matches, and with some magics and wonders of Adobe Photoshop to create these photos.

Terminator Salvation

Terminator: Salvation

The year is 2018. Judgment Day has come and gone, leveling modern civilization. An army of Terminators roams the post-apocalyptic landscape, killing or collecting humans where they hide in the desolate cities and deserts. But small groups of survivors have organized into a Resistance, hiding in underground bunkers and striking when they can against an enemy force that vastly outnumbers them.

Controlling the Terminators is the artificial intelligence network Skynet, which became self-aware 14 years earlier and, in the blink of an eye, turned on its creators, unleashing nuclear annihilation on an unsuspecting world. Only one man saw Judgment Day coming. One man, whose destiny has always been intertwined with the fate of human existence: John Connor (Christian Bale).

Now the world is on the brink of the future that Connor has been warned about all his life. But something totally new has shaken his belief that humanity stands a chance of winning this war: the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger from the past whose last memory is of being on death row before awakening in this strange, new world. Connor must decide whether Marcus can be trusted. But as Skynet adapts new strategies to end the Resistance forever, Connor and Marcus must find common ground to take a stand against the onslaught—to infiltrate Skynet and meet the enemy head-on.

Who's up for Terminator Salvation?

Angels And Demons

Got up 9:45 in Sunday morning. I seldom got up this early during weekends; i usually sleep until near noon. But yesterday was different cause im going to watch Angels and Demons at the price of RM5! Gotta be the early bird to catch the worms. I got to be honest, im not so anticipated in watching Angels and Demons, not until yesterday. Not that i dislike Tom Hanks. Mind you, he's a great actor, one of my favorites along with Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Cliff Owen, Russell Crowe and so forth.

I read Da Vinci Code's novel written by Dan Brown couple of years ago, thus when the Da Vinci Code movie was released, many reviews and critics greatly slammed that movie. Cause the novel was more captivating, with each and every single aspect being explained and portrayed in detail. So you could see why im a little reluctant, and i seem to prefer Star Trek (cause Zachary Quinto is in that movie) and the local production, $ell Out.

Angels and Demons

Speaking of Angels and Demons, i too brought that novel but i could only managed to finish half of it, didnt have enough time to actually finish the whole book before the movie.

After spending my 2 hours 19 minutes in the cinema, all i could say is, its REALLY GOOD! Two thumbs up. I would surely mark it 3 thumbs up, well if i happened to have another thumb. The storyline is quite the same as the one i read and i could basically link from what i've read to what i've seen.

With the story set on Vatican City (the place i've always wanted to visit ever since the emergence of Trinity Blood), i cant help but to let myself be amazed with the scenery. The architectures, structures, buildings, statues of angels and saints, pillars and obelisks. Even if you cant understand whats Illuminati or why do they need to kill the four cardinals, just for the places shown and the richness of histories are enough to make worth of your hard-earn cash paid.

You just have to see it for yourself!

Danny Boy

I believe many do came across this advertisement in cinema, and recently, its been being aired on local television we well. It was this stupid commercial that triggered me to publish this entry entitled, Danny Boy.

DiGi on new Window Live Messenger

Of all the names they could possibly pick on, they choose on this name, DANNY. Not that i felt insulted or anything. I mean, it feels great to be recognized and to be on air. I mean, really... Well, except for the "boy" part.

It start with a cute guy named Danny, walking along the street, going on a blind date. The music started to play "Sugar, ooo honey honey... you're my candy girl", it was the classic song during The Archie, one of the cartoon i used to watch back then. Drawing out his cellphone, he messaged his friends and they suggested him to get his date some flowers and chocolate, which expectedly he did. Suddenly he stumbled upon his date with a bang. *ouch*

His date looked rather gigantic in her she-male's appearance. Doubled the size of Danny and cause an uproar in the scene. The shocked-stunned Danny went screaming disbelieved, while his date shouting "Danny, oh Danny boy", came chasing after him. LOL. On second thought, his date looks like one of the character in Doreamon's comic. Remember Giant's sister, Hana? She looks like Hana.

Okay, let me leak out a secret. I dislike my name when i was small. Seriously. Cause its such a common name, and being a school boy in primary school back then, i couldnt imagine how i could live up to that name. I mean Danny is like a name for a small boy, and when im old enough, i dont want to carry that name. Its a nightmare. That was how i look at it in those days.

At times i wonder if my parents got too carried away with Grease, starring John Travolta as Danny Zuko.

GREASE with John Travolta

Do you remember the song Tubthumping sang by Chumbawamba in 1997? It have repeated lines of "I get knocked down, But i get up again. You're never going to keep me down" on the chorus. That is one freaking annoying song, and i hate that song big time. There's one small section of the lyrics that goes "Oh Danny boy, Danny boy, Danny boy", and my brother always tortured me with that sentence.

So... i decided to make a change and move on. Deliberately remove the letter "Y" at the back of "DANNY". Thus i go by the name of Dann Leong. It sounds better to me. Had my Facebook, my blog, my Google profile and whatever that relates to me, changed. You may just call me AhDann or Dann in short.

Im not saying that the name Danny wasnt a good name, its just that it doesnt suits me well. There are many stars out there with the name Danny. There are Danny Murphy, an ex-Liverpool midfielder who's currently playing for Fulham. Danny Higginbotham from Southampton; Danny Welbeck from Manchester United; Danny Mills from Manchester City. The actor Danny DeVito. Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle. Wasnt that bad afterall...

So the above are my little history of how i got my name, Dann.

Speaking of Danny, couple of months back then i did wrote an entry about My Life Being An Artist. Its a one-shot that stand by itself, however many readers end up believing im an artist. No, the fact is, that entry was a pure made up. The inspiration came in when i was so happened to stumble upon this url, dannyleong.com

dannyleong.com with a new layout

It looks kinda cool with someone having identical name as mine living thousand miles away from me, and created a webpage. Just that im more good looking. Okay, that was 100% self-proclaimed. No harm if i make use of his website to create an entry, since im giving him a free publicity. LOL.

Danny is derived from the name Daniel.
It is Hebrew origin, and it means "God is my judge"

Penang Hokkien Dialect

Kennard: What are you doing these days?
Me: Im reading PHD recently...
Kennard: Huh? You're studing PHD? *unbelievable*
Me: No lar... Penang Hokkien Dialect
Kennard: Swt... =.="

I first came to notice this book was when im listening to Penang Hokkien Podcast. I've forgotten which particular episode of podcast it is when John Ong (though i prefer to address him as Miku), introduced the book to dear audiences. Being the curious me, i went to MPH and check it out two weeks ago. As soon as i found it, i was like standing there for 5-10 minutes reading the book. Seeing me so drown to it, my dear brought it for me at the price of RM23.

*Thanks John Ong, that episode of podcast can be found here.

Penang Hokkien Dialects For Penangties & Tourists
Author: Tan Choon Hoe

So... whats so special about it? Despite the lame name of using PHD, this book is enriched with fruits of Penang Hokkien dialect that we used daily. Ranging from how it is being cocktailed with 'mangled' English plus slang words to Penang Hokkien dialect rhymes/ditties.

Some words from the author;
"In the last ten years or so, there are emerging signs that Penang Hokkien dialect (PHD) is moving towards the direction of becoming an 'endangered' dialect. This could be due to the emergence of China as a global economic power and the prominence given to Mandarin and English as languages with economic value.

More and more parents are conversing with their children in either Mandarin or English and Penang Hokkien dialect is only used in conversations between grandchildren and grandparents themselves would have to adapt to Mandarin or English to ensure the younger ones understand them!

The signs are evident when i speak to many children who are losing their grasp on the dialect. Some of them do not know simple Hokkien words, and there are others who speak with a noticeable accent, oblivious to the fact that PHD is indeed their parents' mother tongue."

I, as a Penangites, i strong agree with it. Cause i too can feel how my mother tongue is being slowly jeopardized by other means of languages and mediums. I love my dialect. Wa su ka kong Hokkien wa. But do bear in mind that just because i speak in Hokkien, that doesnt mean that i have a poor command in English. Yea, i may be a banana-man, but thats not too much of a big deal, and im not afraid to admit it. Gosh... i sound like trying to pick up a fight. =x

They said we're like singing when we're talking, see, Penang Hokkien is authentic and truly unique in its own culture and region. Where on earth could you find this cocktail dialect ever exists?

Okay back to Penang Hokkien Dialect, one of the many poetries that interest me most is The Firefly. This poetry is being frequently resides by John Ong in PenangHokkien.com, that i too found myself being drawn to it...

Huey kim chneh, chap goh meh,
Fireflies, Fifteenth night,

Chneah loo A koo wa, lie lim teh,
Invite your brother-in-law, come drink tea,

Teh seoh seoh, kneah lor bay keen cheoh,
Tea hot hot, take a stroll, buy some bananas,

Keen cheoh bay kee pek, kneah lor bay chheh,
Forgot to peel the bananas, take a stroll, buy some books,

Chheh bay kee thhak, kneah lor bay bark,
Forgot to read the books, take a stroll, buy some ink sticks,

Bark bay kee bua, kneah lor bay chua,
Forgot to grind the ink sticks, take a stroll buy some snakes,

Chua bay kee liak, kneah lor bay kha kiak,
Forgot to catch the snakes, take a stroll buy wooden clogs,

Kha kiak bay kee chheng, kneah lor bay ka leng,
Forgot to wear the wooden clogs, take a stroll buy some mynahs,

Ka leng koe, ka leng soh,
Brother mynah, sister mynah,

Chheah loo A koo wa, seoh ean toe!
Invite your brother-in-law, to a wrestling match!

I know those poetry probably sounds nothing fascinating, but it seems cool to me. Hahaa. Now i wonder why i didnt came across this poetry when i was small. Last but not least, Penang Hokkien Dialect should be preserved as a beautiful part of Penang's rich heritage.

Restaurant City in Facebook

Dexter: Aiyoh, boss of your own restaurant even have to become a cleaner to wash the floor. So pity ah? Whahahahaaaa...

Dexter, send me a mail through Restaurant City and that was what he wrote. Basically, it looks cruel to have your friend to be a cleaner who washes the floor and toilet bowl. Thus, the owner himself had to wash it. Yea... im washing my own restaurant's floor. *sob*

He is one of my best buddies during our time in college. Together with him, Jimmy and Kevin, we are the so called the F4 in our class. Well, i cant really recall how we got that title, probably we named it ourselves? Or was it Lina's appearance in the loop? Maybe we were a little notorious back then?

Anyway, each of us is unique and has our own different character. We have an organizer who lead this small group of 4, our leader. An adventurous guys, who seems to know everything. An obedient mama's boy, who always follow the rules. And a guy who needs to be at home before 6, just to feed his dog. Its funny how 4 of us could mix very well together.

Back to Restaurant City, i decided to make a change.

JENG JENG. Dexter is washing the smelly toilet bowl~~

Adoris: Lolz. Dexter seh toh ka -.-""

Oops, paise Adoris. Dexter's girlfriend complained already. But it feels good to kor thok your best friend sometimes... LOL

A Flaw Spotted On The Final Episode

Its 12:45AM in the midnight, and i've just completed watching my all time favourite series Heroes. Its the last episode of season 3, or to some its known as volume 4. This last episode, entitled An Invisible Thread.

However towards the end of the 41 minutes episode, i just happened to stumble upon this little flaw. Now ladies and gentlemen, to all of the fans out there, did you saw it? Please do not attempt to read any further as it might just spoil your perspective towards the series.

In 39:34 minutes of An Invisible Thread, it shows that Nathan Petrelli (or rather Sylar) was reading the local papers and he saw the headline, "Forth Mysterious Drowning Baffles Authorities". Since i was too curious for my own good, i replay that particular scene and zoom in, just to see what was written in that column...

identical repeated paragraphs in the newspaper

Curiosity kills the cat. I guess they were too hectic in trying to film the final episode, so they got it done hoping we didnt notice it. It might be something like brain-tricking, cause we usually focus more on the title instead of the details. Thus with the short duration of a second or two on that scene, they got their sweet escape by not writing something which are more logical.

So much for AN INVISIBLE THREAD. But still, i enjoy watching Heroes and im very anticipated for the new season... Redemption!
Dann the Ninja!
